My name is Katie Robbins and this will be my sixth year as the HST head coach. I am excited to return this summer and work with your child(ren)! Over the past 10+ years, I have coached and taught swimming lessons for various summer league teams, as well as the Chester Family YMCA. I absolutely love coaching and I am passionate about teaching proper technique as well as water safety. I hope to inspire swimmers to work hard and develop a love for the sport.
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2020 with a B.S.Ed. in Psychology and Youth & Social Innovation. Go Hoos! I graduated from UVA again in 2022 with a Master’s degree in Counselor Education. During the school year, I am a School Counselor at Thomas Dale High School. I also coach the Varsity Swim Team at Thomas Dale.
We are here to support your swimmer(s) and their success. Please reach out to me at [email protected] with any questions, concerns, or other information I should know. I would also love to talk before the first practice each day or after the last practice each day. It is difficult for me to talk during or in-between practices.
Thank you for your flexibility and patience! Go Hurricanes!

I graduated from Matoaca High School in 2024 and I am currently attending Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Computer Science. I am very excited to help all of the children have a fun season!
Kylee Crotts
Coach Kylee is new to the coaching staff this year. She has been swimming competitively for over a decade. Outside of the Highlands Swim Team, she swims year round for SwimRVA, and is a part of their Junior National team. She is committed to swim Division 1 at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and is going into her Senior year at Matoaca High School.
We also have amazing Coaches in Training (CITs)! These are older swimmers who volunteer to help coach younger swimmers.
